A new report from htf consulting highlights a fundamental reshaping of how exhibition organisers generate sales. The 5S Report 2025, based on data from 31 international organisers, introduces a data-driven framework dividing organiser income into five categories: Space, Services, Sponsorship, Sign-up, and Subscription – to create a consistent, comparable view of organiser revenues worldwide.
Findings show that space sales, long the core of organiser income, still represent% of total revenues but are projected to decline to 57% by 2028. Services, tightly defined as products and solutions sold to exhibitors and visitors during their participation, are expected to grow from 13% to 16% in the same period. Overall, tens of millions of euros and US dollars will move between revenue categories within the next three years as customers demand measurable outcomes and year-round value.
“The industry is moving from volume to value, from renting space to monetising relationships,” said Kai Hattendorf, founder and managing director of htf consulting and former CEO of UFI. The report attributes the shift largely to digital transformation and changing customer expectations, alongside economic, regulatory, and sustainability factors.
