Globus Events forms JV with Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai

Globus Events and Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai — the joint venture of Deutsche Messe and Fiera Milano in China — have established a new company, DACF Exhibitions Shanghai Ltd. Owned by both parties, it will continue to organise DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, the largest flooring exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement was signed on 8 January, during the 20th China Expo Forum for International Cooperation (CEFCO), held in Tianjin.

Part of the DOMOTEX portfolio – Deutsche Messe’s globally renowned exhibition brand for the carpet and floorcovering industry – DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR was launched in Shanghai 26 years ago and has since taken place annually as a jointly organised event. Starting in 2025, it will become an asset of DACF Exhibitions Shanghai Ltd. which assumes full responsibility for the organisation and management of the event. The new joint venture will also focus on expanding business opportunities in sectors of mutual interest within China and across the broader APAC region. The investment underscores the commitment of both foreign-owned organisers to deepen their presence and influence in the Chinese market.

Edwin Chen, CEO of Globus Events, said: “We are truly excited to achieve this milestone in our long-standing collaboration with Hannover Milano Fairs and Deutsche Messe. Over the years, our partnership has delivered the leading international trade show for the flooring industry in the Asia-Pacific region.”

“The establishment of DACF Exhibitions Shanghai Ltd. marks a significant step forward in our strategic partnership with Globus Events,” Arno Reich, senior vice-president of Deutsche Messe noted. “We are convinced that by pooling our resources and expertise, we can elevate DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR to new heights and create unparalleled value for our exhibitions and visitors.”

The 27th edition of DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR will take place from 26-28 May, 2025, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC – Hongqiao). The event is expected to host around 1,600 exhibitors from China and abroad, with the show covering over 200,000sqm of gross exhibition space. The 2024 edition, held in May, attracted over 80,000 trade visitors and over 18,000 overseas buyers.

Leveraging the combined resources and expertise of both parties, DACF Exhibitions Shanghai says it aims to foster upstream and downstream synergies within the flooring industry value chain and support its multidimensional growth.

Globus Events (formerly known as VNU Exhibitions Asia) is one of the first exhibition organisers to establish its presence in China and organises over 20 local and international leading exhibitions and conferences each year, with exhibition space of over 1,000,000sqm. Headquartered in Shanghai, it has operations in different cities across China and abroad, including Bangkok, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Since February 2024, Globus Events is part of the portfolio of Advent International, one of the world’s largest and most experienced private equity investors.

Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Ltd. is a joint venture in China, founded by Deutsche Messe AG and Fiera Milano. The company organises nearly 30 trade fairs domestically each year, while also inviting outstanding Chinese companies to participate in the exhibitions held by parent companies, Deutsche Messe and Fiera Milano, across Europe and the globe.
