Thailand’s largest venue, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, has adopted a set of structured sustainability practices for long-term event management.
“Large-scale events bring both opportunities and responsibilities,” said Paul Kanjanapas (pictured), CEO of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. “Our focus is on managing impacts in a structured way, so event activities continue to support economic development while addressing environmental and social considerations over the long term.”
As part of this approach, the company applies ISO 20121, the international standard for sustainable event management, to guide decision-making and manage event-related impacts across environmental, social, and economic dimensions.
In parallel, IMPACT is developing a Smart City Model for Muang Thong Thani, the urban development where the IMPACT venue sits, aimed at improving the resilience of event-related infrastructure. The initiative is intended to support long-term destination development rather than short-term event outcomes.
IMPACT comprises five multi-purpose buildings, namely IMPACT Arena, IMPACT Exhibition Centre, IMPACT Forum, IMPACT Challenger and The Portal Life Complex. In addition to exhibition space, the venue houses 55 meeting rooms, three ballrooms, two banquet halls and two outdoor spaces of over 170,000sqm. Other facilities include 2 hotels (Novotel Bangkok IMPACT and Ibis Bangkok IMPACT), 13 onsite restaurants and 30 F&B outlets, five outdoor and three indoor parking areas that can accommodate over 15,000 vehicles.
