A Joint Coordination Committee between AEFI – Italian Exhibition and Trade Fair Association and IT-EX met in Milan this week, in the presence of the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso. The associations said the meeting represented a strategic step and the start of a structured collaboration between them aimed at strengthening the national trade fair system in Italy and increasing its competitiveness on international markets.
Minister Urso underlined that the initiative represented a turning point for the Italian system, highlighting the strategic role of trade fairs as a platform for companies, a lever of industrial policy and an instrument of international projection. It was, he said, “a role also confirmed by the 2025 export data, which had grown by 3.3% and rose to a record €643bn”.
President of the Committee, Giovanni Bozzetti (president Fondazione Fiera Milano ) said at the meeting: “It is essential that trade fairs work together and work in synergy to support growth of the country, in particular SMEs and micro-enterprises, and to promote the value of Made in Italy in the world”.
The vice-presidents Maurizio Danese (AEFI – Italian Exhibition and Trade Fair Association ) and Raffaello Napoleone (IT-EX Italian Association of International Exhibitions ) agreed to guide efforts towards a unified representation of the sector and to lead an increasingly effective dialogue with national and international institutions.
Among the priorities identified at the meeting were:
- Building a single entity to represent the exhibition system
- Enhancing trade fairs as a strategic asset for industrial policies
- Developing key themes such as internationalisation, tourism, digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
The meeting sent a strong signal of cohesion and shared vision to strengthen the country’s competitiveness and the international projection of Made in Italy.
