CBS Arena sees record conference and exhibition growth in 2024

Coventry Building Society Arena has achieved record growth in its conference and exhibition business, welcoming over one million visitors in 2024.

Conference, exhibition, and meeting bookings brought in nearly £2.8m in new business for the venue.

A 48% increase in large conferences drove this growth, with 83 held compared to 56 in 2023.

The venue hosted 573 events, including exhibitions, large conferences, small meetings, award ceremonies and gala dinners, with exhibitions up by 4%.

Enquiries rose by 50%, equivalent to £41.5m.

Coventry Building Society Arena welcomed 1.2m visitors, supported by CBS Live, which launched in 2024 as part of the venue’s business growth strategy and attracted an additional 50,000 attendees.

On-site, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel recorded higher occupancy, room rates, and revenue per available room, with plans for a full refurbishment in 2025.

Sustainability efforts included planting 18,992 trees, removing 38,421 plastic bottles from the ocean, and saving 54 tonnes of CO2.

Community initiatives involved 55 tours for 1,429 people, five school visits, and support for seven local charities, including hosting One Day at Christmas for 200 guests.

New partnerships with Purple Planet Packaging and No Ordinary Hospitality Management, as well as the opening of The Mahou Experience lounge, enhanced the venue’s offerings.

Paul Michael, managing director, said: “This was an important year for our business as we aimed to maintain growth, diversify our proposition, and introduce new strategic priorities. Our team has worked tirelessly to build customer confidence, reflected by the impressive growth in our conference and exhibition business.”
