Hamburg Messe, DN Media Group and Singapore agencies launch wind energy events

DN Media Group AS (RECHARGE), Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH (HMC), Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on a series of wind energy conferences and exhibitions in Singapore from 2026 to 2029.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the first mayor of Hamburg, Dr Peter Tschentscher and Singapore’s ambassador to Germany Lee Chong Hock. Under the MOU, EnterpriseSG and STB will support RECHARGE and HMC to organise (i) the two-day RECHARGE Wind Power Summit Asia-Pacific powered by WindEnergy Hamburg in Singapore in 2026, and (ii) the flagship three-day WindEnergy Asia-Pacific powered by RECHARGE in Singapore in 2027 and 2029.

Wind energy stands at an inflection point in Asia-Pacific (APAC) where countries with abundant wind resources such as Australia, India, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea and Vietnam have unveiled wind energy targets and rolled out feasibility studies and auctions. The region is currently the largest wind market with 607.5 gigawatts of wind power installed in 2024. Offshore wind, with its ability to deliver renewable energy on the gigawatt scale, has particularly emerged as a promising technology to meet APAC’s growing demand for secure, sustainable and affordable energy. The region is expected to see 50 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity come online by 2034, accounting for over 60% of new global offshore wind capacity additions.

Unlocking the full potential of wind power in APAC requires coordinated efforts between governments, industry and academia and the WindEnergy Asia-Pacific and RECHARGE Wind Power Summit Asia-Pacific events can establish platforms for stakeholders to convene and create opportunities to accelerate the rollout of offshore and onshore wind in APAC and beyond.

The events also represent a significant milestone in Singapore’s ambition to become the leading offshore wind hub in APAC.

The MOU was signed during the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2025 powered by WindEnergy Hamburg in Hamburg, marking WindEnergy Hamburg`s first expansion outside Europe. The partnership will leverage the global reach of WindEnergy Hamburg – the world’s leading wind industry event organiser with 1,600 exhibitors and 43,000 participants from 100 countries.

Poh Chi Chuan, executive director, exhibitions & conferences, Singapore Tourism Board said: “Hosting Singapore’s first dedicated wind energy exhibition not only positions Singapore as a leading sustainable urban destination, it also contributes to global sustainability efforts.”

Tim Fischer, executive director, Global Wind Division, welcomed the new launches: “APAC represents the next bound of growth for the global offshore wind industry, and Singapore is uniquely positioned to play a key role in this transformation. With its strong supplier base and strategic location, the region is set to become a powerhouse – driving local development and supplying global markets. We are proud to support the future offshore wind conference in Singapore.”
