The US-based Exhibitions & Conferences Alliance (ECA), the public policy voice of the US business and professional events industry, has announced that its annual ECA Legislative Action Day will take place on Thursday, 28 May, 2026, in Washington, DC.
ECA Legislative Action Day 2026 will bring industry leaders and advocates to Capitol Hill to meet with Members of Congress and congressional staff in support of ECA’s 2026 public policy priorities.
Last year, 170 industry stakeholders from 30 states joined ECA for a full day of advocacy, direct engagement with federal policymakers, and cross-industry networking opportunities.
“ECA Legislative Action Day is more than a day on Capitol Hill – it’s a live demonstration of the power of in-person events and what can be achieved when our industry comes together with a shared purpose,” said Fernando Fischer, chair of the ECA Board of Directors and president, Americas for RX.
“Exhibitions and conferences fuel economic growth, support millions of jobs, and strengthen small businesses nationwide – and when we bring our industry to Washington, DC., we’re not just telling that story, we’re showing it. This event gives us a powerful opportunity to bring that story directly to our elected officials and help inform the policies that will shape our future.”
Once again, ECA Legislative Action Day will be held in conjunction with Lippman Connects’ Exhibition and Convention Executives Forum (ECEF), which will take place on 27 May, 2026. Lippman Connects is one of the 2026 Legislative Action Day platinum sponsors and president Sam Lippman, said: “Lippman Connects and ECA share the same interest in the continuing prosperity of the event industry. As a platinum sponsor, we will make every effort to encourage the ECEF community of leaders to participate in ECA Legislative Action Day.”
ECEF will be preceded again in 2026 by an invitation-only executive roundtable hosted by mdg, A Freeman Company, on 26 May, 2026. Moderated by Kimberly Hardcastle-Geddes and Vincent Polito, the roundtable will convene senior event leaders for a candid discussion on the most timely strategic, economic, and geopolitical issues shaping the future of exhibitions and conferences.
Following Legislative Action Day 2026, ECA, UFI – The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and MAD Event Management will host the inaugural Global Policy Forum, which will take place on 29 May, 2026. This invitation-only event will bring together leaders from the business and professional events industry, senior government officials, diplomatic representatives, and more to share best practices and identify future cross-border policymaking opportunities on the key issues impacting events taking place around the world.
