Bangkok International Design Expo 2026 will make its international debut, 25–29 November 2026, at Bangkok Kunsthalle, bringing together designers, architects, technologists, institutions and creative communities to ask a deliberately provocative question: If the world as we know it is ending, what should design create next.
The forward-thinking forum, organised by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), aims to challenge traditional design concepts in a rapidly changing world. The expo is drawing attention for its cross-disciplinary line-up that bridges local knowledge with global perspectives. Confirmed participants include Mexico City’s Lanza Atelier, London’s OK-RM and Thailand’s CHAT Architects. The event will embrace exhibitions, pavilions, installations, talks and performances.
Create what matters
The core event theme: ‘Create what matters’ will encourage participants to explore the transitional space between one world ending and another beginning, asking whether inherited design assumptions can withstand the pressures of accelerating artificial intelligence, environmental strain, and rapidly evolving cities. Rather than just displaying finished goods, it is being pitched as a “place for better questions” structured around four main conceptual pillars:
HERE: Examining identities, local cultures, materials, and communities.
BETWEEN: Assessing the global forces transforming everyday lives.
ELSEWHERE: Exploring alternative systems and unfamiliar, speculative possibilities.
CREATE WHAT MATTERS: Challenging creators to decide what should exist, who it serves, and what it leaves behind.
Organisers believe Bangkok’s interplay of old and new, local and global makes the city integral to this exchange. And, the main venue, Bangkok Kunsthalle, is a former printing house in Chinatown that embodies this spirit of reinvention.
The November expo builds upon The World Ends: Here Between Elsewhere Design Readiness Forum, held in Bangkok in May 2026, expanding that conversation internationally.
