From 11 May, the US will no longer required international air arrivals to be vaccinated against Covid-19. An announcement from the White House has confirmed the official end to the public health emergency.
Nearly 270 million Americans received at least one shot of the Covid-19 vaccine.
“Our Covid-19 vaccine requirements bolstered vaccination across the nation, and our broader vaccination campaign has saved millions of lives,” a statement from president Biden and his vice-president Harris said. “While vaccination remains one of the most important tools in advancing the health and safety of employees and promoting the efficiency of workplaces, we are now in a different phase of our response when these measures are no longer necessary,” their statement continued.
UFI CEO Kai Hattendorf welcomed the announcement from the White House, saying: “Reopening the US borders for international travellers was key for reinstating the core role of business events to connect the US with the global market again. Lifting the vaccine requirement now removes administrative complexities and completes this re-opening process – good news for the events industry.”
