IEG appoints new president

The Board of Directors of leading Italian event organiser and venue manager Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) has appointed Maurizio Renzo Ermeti (pictured) as its new president.

Mr Ermeti has been a non-executive member of Board of Directors since 1997, with the role of vice-chairman from 2008 to 2016. Following his appointment, he has resigned from the position of member of the Remuneration and Appointments Committee, the composition of which has been supplemented by the Board of Directors by the appointment of Mrs Alessandra Bianchi.

The CEO, on behalf of the entire Board of Directors, recalled again the commitment and professionalism of the previous president, Mr Lorenzo Cagnoni who passed away last month.

Mr Ermeti was born in Rimini in 1958 and began his professional career in 1980 within the family hotel group Ambienthotels of which he is currently director.

From 1994 to 1997, Ermeti served as chairman for Adriacongrex, the PCO set up on the initiative of the co-operatives Promozione Alberghiera in Rimini and Promhotels in Riccione.

In 1997, he became president of the Rimini Hoteliers Association and remained in office until 2006. Two years later, he became president and director of the Rimini Forum Venture Association for the Rimini Strategic Plan, overseeing the drafting of strategic development guidelines for the Rimini area.

Since 2013, he has been sole administrator of the Strategic Plan Agency, responsible for the implementation of strategic public planning.

In 1997, he also joined the Board of Directors of Rimini Fiera and in 2008 was appointed vice-president. He remained in office until 2016 when he became a Board member of the current Italian Exhibition Group SPA, the trade show and congress company resulting from the merger between Rimini Fiera and Fiera di Vicenza.

Since 2019, Maurizio Renzo Ermeti has also served on the Board of Directors of Rimini Municipality’s destination management company, Visit Rimini.

In October 2023, Ermeti was appointed president of Italian Exhibition Group, taking over the historic legacy of Lorenzo Cagnoni.
