Interplas reports largest show for over two decades in 75th year

The UK’s number one plastics event, Interplas, has recorded its largest show for 21 years at NEC Birmingham as it celebrates the event’s 75th birthday.

Interplas welcomed 540 exhibitors from 30 countries to the event, 26-28 September, the largest number of exhibitors on the show floor since 2002.

The event has a rich history with the NEC, having been the third exhibition to ever take place at the venue after it was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1976. The first iteration of Interplas was introduced at the British Industries Fair at Earls Court in 1948.

This special 75th year celebration featured a host of conference sessions and speakers from across the plastics industry.

Ian Taylor, managing director for Conventions & Exhibitions at the NEC Group, said: “Interplas was one of our very first shows at the NEC, so we’re delighted to see it go from strength to strength.

“We’re proud that the event helps facilitate valuable trading opportunities for hundreds of exhibiting businesses each year, as the plastics industry comes together to showcase new products, machines and ideas.

“We’d like to wish everyone connected to Interplas a very happy 75th year.”

Duncan Wood, CEO of Rapid News Group, the organiser of Interplas, commented: “The £27bn UK plastics industry came to Interplas to do business and our exhibitors have had an absolutely fantastic week. The industry really came out to celebrate our birthday and we are delighted with the outcome.

“Now we look forward to 2026 on our new dateline of June, enabling us to co-locate with our other events TCT 3Sixty and Med-Tech Innovation Expo, and alongside a plethora of additional industrial events from partner organisers Nineteen Group and Mark Allen Group which will deliver even greater return on investment for our exhibitors and create a real focal point for UK Manufacturing.”
