The North America Chapter of the Women in Exhibitions Network (WIEN), has announced a new slate of directors who will serve through 31 August, 2027. WIEN is a global community launched in 2018 to accelerate the careers of women working in the sector and continues to grow its membership base around the world.
The new American leadership team includes:
- President Toni Piela (pictured), head of strategy and M&A, RX North America
- Vice-president Elizabeth George, senior conference lead, HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition, Informa Connect
- Secretary Melissa Ooi, VP of manufacturing, Nineteen Group
- Membership director Dana Freker Doody, owner and principal strategist, Inktide Solutions
- Immediate past president Danica Tormohlen, VP content, Informa Markets
- Ex-officio directors and Chapter founders Martha Donato, partner, Mad Event Management, and Stephanie Selesnick, president, International Trade Information, Inc.
“It’s an honour to serve as president of Women in Exhibitions and build on the strong foundation this organization has created,” Piela said. “Over the next 18 months, we will focus on deepening our sense of community and creating more opportunities for our members to connect in person, through local meet-ups, industry events, and behind-the-scenes access to some of our industry’s most innovative events.”
WIEN North America aims to connect and empower women in the exhibitions industry through monthly webinars and in-person industry event meet-ups. Membership is open to individuals for $99 and to corporations. Recent gatherings have included discussions with senior leaders such as Kinsey Fabrizio, president & incoming CEO of the CTA, producers of CES; Joyce Leveston, CEO, Javits Center; and, most recently, Heather Farley, CEO of Access Intelligence. Every meeting, online and in-person, includes dedicated networking time to build connections and help members find “their people”.
Future events include an online conversation with Money 20/20’s Jessica Blue plus in-person meet-ups at the Exhibition and Convention Executives Forum in Washington, D.C. and the Canadian Association of Exposition Management Conference in Toronto. Members also will be welcomed at a global WIEN meet-up sponsored by Visit Detroit during IMEX America in October.
WIEN North America is a chapter of the global Women in Exhibitions Network that includes United Kingdom, Netherlands, French, DACH, and Middle East chapters.
