Women in Exhibitions to inspire workplace inclusion at Confex

The UK chapter of Women in Exhibitions will inspire inclusion in the workplace during International Confex this week with a panel discussion and networking drinks.

The debate will take place during the EN 30underThirty Class of 2023 ceremony on the Power of Events theatre stage at 2pm on 29 February. It will be moderated by Tembo CEO, Kate Disley and feature four female panellists.

Oana Cipca, founder of the Women in Exhibitions network (pictured) will join Laura Tavernor, associate vice president of marketing and communications at dmg events, Laura Tythcott, sales and marketing director at Whitespace Group, and Caroline Gourlay, head of B2B exhibition sales at ExCeL London to talk about inclusion in the workplace.

Tavernor said: “The panel will discuss how we can have a positive impact on the narrative around gender bias and inspire equality and inclusion in the events industry. By fostering an inclusive workplace culture, and addressing unconscious bias in our conversations or interactions, we can continually inspire change.”

The one-hour networking drinks will take place at the Whitespace-sponsored main show bar from 3.30 pm.

Women make up the majority of the UK’s event and exhibitions workforce – estimated at around 80% in entry-level positions. Yet, women hold approximately just 20% of board positions. The UK chapter of Women in Exhibitions aims to promote fairness, equity, and diversity in the industry by preparing women for leadership roles through upskilling, networking, mentoring, and support.

#InspireInclusion is also the theme of International Women’s Day 2024, taking place on 8 March.
