BREAKING NEWS: Hyve acquires Behavioral Health Tech, advancing GO27 strategy

International exhibition organiser Hyve Group, which runs some of the world’s fastest-growing B2B events, has announced the acquisition of Behavioural Health Tech (‘BHT’) – the largest community of behavioural health payors, health systems, community-based providers, digital health innovators, government officials and funders. The acquisition marks Hyve’s fourth in the last year and signals its entry into the fast-growing behavioural health sector. It also sees a deepening of the group’s commitment to facilitating the most important conversations and partnerships in healthcare innovation, by building on its existing market-leading events in the space: HLTH US, HLTH Europe and ViVE.

The addition of BHT is also a clear demonstration of GO27 – the group’s three-year plan to accelerate growth and optimise its business model – in action.

Founded in 2020 in response to the increasing behavioural health crisis accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic, BHT emerged as a critical platform for driving innovation and connection at a time of urgent need. Under the leadership of founder Solome Tibebu, BHT has rapidly become the go-to forum for the US behavioural health ecosystem.

Speaking to EW, Mark Shashoua, CEO of Hyve, said: “Hyve is the home of Shoptalk, Groceryshop, Fintech meetup, POSSIBLE, HLTH, Manifest and now we’re the home of BHT. Adding Behavioural Health Tech is a continuation of our proven and conscious strategy. We have rolled out our best practice across all of these events. There is a meetings programme in every single one of those events and where we haven’t yet there are plans to do so. We’re very different to most other organisers as despite being one of the larger organisers in the world, we only run 25 events, and now 26 thanks to BHT. That’s across 16 market leading brands.”

He added: “I’m delighted that Solome has chosen Hyve as the right partner to support Behavioral Health Tech with its exciting next phase of growth. BHT is a perfect fit for Hyve as we continue to scale with purpose, expanding our strong Healthcare portfolio at a pivotal moment, when one in every five dollars in the US is spent on healthcare.

“What’s exciting about this event is the founder energy behind it — that hunger, vision, and drive you only get from something built from the ground up. It’s loved by its community, has real momentum, and we’re extremely proud to bring it into our portfolio. As we work towards our ambition to more than double the size of the group, opportunities like BHT further reinforce our position at the heart of some of the most important conversations shaping the future.”

Solome Tibebu, founder of Behavioural Health Tech, said: “Creating Behavioural Health Tech is deeply personal for me, having spent my entire career focused on improving mental health access and innovation.”

“What started as a virtual gathering has grown into a powerful community — and now, with Hyve’s support and proven track record in relentless innovation and scaling events, we can expand its reach while staying true to its core — uniting the community of organisations and individuals transforming behavioural health for the better. I couldn’t think of a better home than Hyve and can’t wait to get started and collaborate.”

Founded in 2020,  Behavioural Health started as a newsletter before becoming an event and eventually the ‘go to’ forum for the US behavioural health community.

Shashoua noted BHT is an event “all about digital tools that are used to find providers to help deliver treatment, to support providers with their own administration, with online therapies. Speakers include leading voices in the space such as Amazon’s director of health benefits Chris DeCou and Julie Krause, head of wellness at Microsoft, as well as celebrities including Paris Hilton. And then there’s Solome herself, who has become a critical voice in the sector.”
