Pendigo picks up PerformX Live and BoatLife as UK’s NEC builds up its organiser arm

UK fitness trade show PerformX Live is moving from London to the Birmingham NEC to form part of a portfolio of B2B and consumer exhibitions run by the venue’s newly created organising arm, Pendigo Events.

PerformX Live, formerly part of Opus Origin, will take place 26-27 February 2025 and will feature an education programme for fitness educators, a boardroom for roundtable debates, and a ‘gym of the future’ showcasing products and new fitness technology.

Co-founder and event director, Mark Hartnett-Morgan will move with the two-day show. He said: “With significant new investment and collaboration with top thought leaders, we are crafting an experience that will be nothing short of spectacular, an event that the UK fitness industry can be proud of. We’re excited to unveil what we’ve been planning.”

The NEC Group set up Pendigo Events in April this year. The subsidiary business is run by managing director, Anthony Mitchell, the former sales director of Pub in the Park with Tom Kerridge.

Last month, Pendigo Events acquired its debut show venture – the indoor marine consumer exhibition, BoatLife.

BoatLife, which has been held at the NEC since 2022, will return under its new ownership, 6-9 February 2025 but remain under the stewardship of event director Richard Dove.

Pendigo Events’ Mitchell said at the time of purchase: “We are proud to be the new owner of the UK’s biggest indoor boat event. Over the past four months, the team has worked tirelessly with the UK marine industry to understand what our clients and visitors want and need from BoatLife.

“With more investment to allow us to host new, as well as returning brands, there will be a focus on delivering engaging content and new features to ensure a truly immersive visitor experience. With so much to see and do, we cannot wait to welcome the industry to BoatLife next year.”
