The biggest Smart City Expo yet calls on cities to ‘Live Better’

Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the leading international event on cities and smart urban solutions, organised by Fira de Barcelona, is set to hold its biggest edition to date in 2024.

Under the theme ‘Live Better’ the show and congress, organisers say, will deliver a 30% growth of the exhibition floorspace from the record-setting 2023 event.

The summit is held every year in Barcelona and around 1,100 exhibitors, 850 cities and over 25,000 attendees are expected at Fira Gran Via, 5-7 November, where the exhibition will spread over Halls 2 and 3.

The event will focus on strategies to transform current metropolises into more sustainable, efficient, and livable spaces, bringing together leading companies from around the world to showcase the latest solutions and technologies enabling cities to become more efficient in areas such as mobility, public services, utilities, citizen engagement and sustainability.

SCEWC expects to present 600 speakers and international experts in its congress, who will share the latest experiences and breakthroughs in urban transformation in a conference programme structured around eight main tracks: Enabling Technologies, Energy & Environment, Mobility, Governance, Living & Inclusion, Economy, Infrastructure & Buildings, and Safety & Security.

The event’s director, Ugo Valenti, said that, “We aim to set a common target for urban innovation worldwide: improve welfare, create opportunities, and foster a better relationship with our planet and communities. Industry leaders, government officials, researchers, and entrepreneurs will get together at Smart City Expo World Congress to address the complex issues lying at the heart of a new city model.”

SCEWC will also hold the third edition of the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, an event organised by Barcelona Activa focused on scientific tech entrepreneurship and university spin-offs.

To round off and unmatchable combination of events, the Gran Via venue will also host the third Tomorrow.Mobility, the event jointly organizsed by Fira de Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility aimed at developing a new and sustainable urban mobility paradigm; the second editions of Tomorrow Building, focused on innovative construction, and Tomorrow.BlueEconomy, aimed at using the full potential of ocean resources for a sustainable economic growth.
